Computers Unlimited is Europe’s leading IT & CE distributor, specialising in accessories and products for Apple, the Digital Home, and Creative Professionals. CU is headquartered in London with operations in Paris and Barcelona. We source software, IT hardware and consumer electronics worldwide, and supply more than 4,000 partners throughout the UK & Europe.
Well-known for our focus on the Professional Creative, Apple (iPod/iPhone/iPad/Mac) & Home Entertainment markets, many of our vendor products also appeal to a broad range of customers including those seeking general business solutions.
Established in 1985, Computers Unlimited (part of Janson Computers plc) has grown from a start-up company to become one of the largest specialist IT distributors in Europe, with an annual group turnover of nearly £100m.
We have carefully built a 'best of breed' range of software, hardware and accessories, sourced from more than 100 leading manufacturers and publishers including market leaders such as: Sonos, Apple, Adobe, Western Digital, Epson, Wacom, Nemetschek and Incipio.
We make our products available via a channel of value added resellers, mail order partners and retailers, both large and small. With the combination of significant buying power, sophisticated IT systems, strong product range, and a great team of experienced people, we provide the dealer channel with excellent service, competitive prices, and extensive stock availability.
However we believe that a distributor should offer even more than this. That's why we break down our model into two distinct elements:
1. Driving Demand
Our ability to "drive demand" on selected product lines is what differentiates CU from most, if not all of our distribution competitors. Generating end-user interest and demand for pre-determined product lines whilst simultaneously creating and managing an appropriately-structured and sized dealer channel is one of the keys to our success. It means that we can provide our dealer partners with a raft of rewarding business opportunities and ensure a first rate experience for the end-user.
2. Delivering the Goods
We operate a very efficient fulfilment logistics engine, taking orders from the dealer channel by phone, fax or Web and processing them promptly and accurately. We pride ourselves on ensuring goods are in stock whenever possible, and are shipped rapidly to the dealer or your end customer via your selected delivery method.
To facilitate our unique "driving demand, delivering the goods" distribution model, we employ expert business and product managers, sales specialists and channel development managers who have a genuine understanding of the creative industry and how to market to it. This team is ably supported by over 100 other front and back office staff, ranging from finance to telesales, purchasing to warehouse.
WEEE
The European Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE) became law in the UK on 02-01-2007. These regulations place certain obligations on companies (know as 'Producers') which manufacture, import or re-brand EEE products. One of these obligations is for Producers to take back and recycle WEEE from business end-users once the product reaches the end of its life.
